Only two weeks old and already a viral sensation, the new video promoting the Old Spice scent “Danger Zone” takes interactive advertising to a whole new level.
In the clever ad, “Old Spice Guy” Terry Crews uses his muscles to trigger instruments while yelling out random interjections and phrases like “flame sax!” However, the coolest part of the video comes after it’s over, when a new player pops up, allowing viewers to take control of Crews and his muscles via their own keyboard. (Note: We highly recommend hitting the “a” key as much as possible — it makes sausage links fall from the ceiling!)
What makes the interactive ad truly genius though, is that it’s so easily shared — and we’re not just talking about the ad itself. Users can also share their own musical creations across the web by using the pop up recordable player and then uploading them to Vimeo.
We’re excited to see more of this kind of interactive advertising from brands in the very near future. What do you think of Old Spice’s “Muscle Music” collaboration? Let us know, and feel free to share your own Old Spice remixes in the comment section below.
